VISUALPLANT is a platform for content providers to manage and distribute their media on the Internet. We are building a new monetization service to help content providers finance their infrastructure and bandwidth costs with a simple, brilliant new patent-pending method.
We are seeking a senior-level Software Architect / Manager to plan and manage development of the service from the ground-up based on business requirements. Your role will be to work with the Founder, software developers and designers to implement the strategy from stage 1 to beta launch and beyond. This is a ground-floor opportunity in a start-up at the center of the biggest, most-rapidly expanding segment of the Internet: video. Compensation includes significant equity.

We want a motivated quick-study with a proven track-record of technical successes (commercial successes also welcome), solid work ethic and resourcefulness (can get things done without inflated budgets). No 9-to-5 gig here; you can work long hours with the Founder to solve problems. You are motivated to elevate yourself 5 rungs on the career-ladder in the next 2 years and define Internet video 3.0.
Duties include:
- Work with Founder to plan and implement technology supporting business plan.
- Hire and manage software developers, UI designers and testing resources.
- Write, review and release code using version control system.
- Document all code classes and database architectures.
- Work with Founder to help document self-service APIs and FAQs.
- Integrate with 3rd-party APIs as/when appropriate.
- Attend trade shows, contribute to marketing plan and participate in sales calls.
Required experience:
- Computer science degree and expert-level working knowledge of at least 2 or 3 object-oriented development languages. Prefer PHP, Ruby-On-Rails and/or Python, but will consider other options.
- Ability to architect a system for massive, dynamic scalability.
- Internet Video delivery standards, including files, formats, players and content delivery networks.
- Restful Webservices.
- Javascript widget development.
Preferred experience:
- Amazon Web Services, including FPS and simpleDB
- Jeroen Wijering's open-source Flash player framework
- FaceBook app development
- iPhone app development
MUST HAVE SOLID REFERENCES
MUST BE BASED LOCALLY IN SILICON VALLEY, CA.
