We're looking for a well-rounded front-end developer who can jump in and build pages and applications seen by millions of people every day. You should be able to build out the gorgeous designs of our award-winning designers, optimize pages to load fast, fix browser compatibility problems, and write modular, testable JavaScript for our large web application. We expect that you have strong opinions about clearfix v. overflow, jQuery v. micro-frameworks, prototype- v. closure-based object-oriented programming, and CoffeeScript and other js-next implementations. We also expect you know when to use time-tested tools rather than the latest hotness.
Beyond front-end skills, you should also be able to help us develop user stories to grow our bottom-line, communicate with peers and managers in our SCRUM process, and gel with the whole startup vibe.
Unlike most jobs you find in this area, we’re not a government-consulting firm or “a big company with a startup feel”: we’re an actual startup. So there are some things you should know up front:
1. We were founded by three very dorky brothers on a server in their closet.
Pluses: your boss won’t stare at you blankly when you try to explain why his vague ideas can’t be put into code.
Minuses: the CEO might personally browbeat you on your poor cacheing strategy.
2. We work hard but have a realistic, agile process for shipping software.

The Analytics Team serves various departments; including marketing, product, and finance; by providing data, analysis, and recommendations for key business initiatives. Major projects include ongoing randomized control testing, product impact measurement, and customer profiling and behavioral analysis. The ideal candidate will be someone who can work with a variety of data sources to access and pull data, analyze and report on key findings & questions, and recommend and drive new avenues for research and testing. We are looking for someone with the creativity and business sense to help us find real opportunities and ask ever more demanding questions of our data. Finally, while not absolutely required, experience working for a technology or internet company is highly desired.
Core Responsibilities
- Write and interpret complex SQL queries for standard and ad-hoc data mining
- Create and maintain executive reports for tracking key business metrics
- Work closely with analytics, marketing, and other teams to drive test iterations
- Identify holes in current data collection and practices
- Seek out trends and patterns across large sets of data and from multiple sources
- Summarize and report key analytical findings and recommendations in both oral and written form to various teams and executives
- Conceive of and pursue new data mining opportunities and initiatives to drive business metrics
Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
- Experience with relational databases, SQL, regular expressions, etc.
- Strong Excel and data presentation skills
- Interest in discrete math and statistics
- Ability to map data and analytical functions to business needs
- Ability not just to retrieve and present data, but to draw conclusions and make recommendations
- Passionate and motivated to work in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision
Plus
- Experience working for a technology or internet company
- Ability to write MapReduce functions
- Experience with statistical software packages (SAS, SPSS, STATA, R, etc.)
- Knowledge of web analytics suites (Google Analytics, Omniture, etc.)

Webs is looking for a talented Senior Rails developer that is passionate about building user-facing web applications. This position is full-time and is based at our main office in Silver Spring, MD.
Responsibilities
- Work with product designers and engineers to implement the next generation of Webs products.
- Build web applications that can scale to a million page views per day.
- Work independently on projects developing web applications from scratch, front-to-back.
- Practice test driven development using unit tests and integration tests.
- Develop software iteratively and deliver working code each iteration.
- Review application with stakeholders each iteration
Required Skills
